3rd Annual Drums Ensemble Camp
This year, we did something different. Usually we would have a training camp where our drums instructor would teach us new instruments to play. However this year, Mdm Isnani and Mdm Mislimah organised a fun camp for us.
1st day
We had our breakfast in school. Then, we were instructed to bring any instruments of our choice. We headed to West Coast Park. Our first activity was to introduce ourselves and explained why we chose the instruments. Den, we had a puzzle game where we put up the pieces of a 3D animal puzzles. Faris got 1st. Then, Syafiq and Nazri was appointed the group leaders and they chose their group mates.
We played the Human Sewing game where we had to "sew ourselves" up with a rafia string and Nazri's group was the fastest. We were then told to think of a group name and a cheer. Shafiq's group was named Shafek Batucada and Nazri's group, Corntos, after the 1st prize they won. We headed to the open field to play some more games.
We played the Water Bomb Dog and Bone and Pick up sticks Race. We really had fun playing those games. After lunch, we prepared for our item to be performed the day after, the last day of our camp, using the instruments we chose. It started to rain so at about 3plus, we headed home.
2nd Day
We had lunch at school before heading to East Coast Park. We were given time to practice for our items since it was raining quite heavily. Once Mdm Is and Mdm Mis prepared the BBQ food, we put up our performance. Shafek Batucada won!! After that, we had our BBQ. We then had 1 last game before the prize giving.
We were asked to fill up 2 empty bottles with salt water and the group who managed to fill up first will win. It was very hilarious looking at the boys finding means and ways to fill the bottles up. Some even use their mouths! Shafek Batucada won again.
For prize presentation, we presented the 2008 committee with Cert of Appreciation and announced the new committee for 2009. Shafiq became the new band leader. Zulkhairi our vice chairperson. Level rep for sec 4 fareez, level rep for sec 3 sharil, level rep for sec 2 alfiyan. Congrat gang! We also gave token of appreciation to our seniors, Shafiyan and Faezul for helping out for the 2 days.
Overall, the students were very happy and satisfied with the camp. They hoped for this kind of camp to be continued the following year. Thank you all for your kind participation and help.

It has been a long time since we update our blog....well..since our teacher in charge was on maternity leave..we guess the blog was on leave as well.
What has been happening since our last update? After our NYGHS performance, we were involved with a few more. Happy news!! We got into a competition finally. It was called the Drumzout Competition. And we got 2nd place!! We were very delighted when we were informed that we were the runner up. Who could have believe it...1st timer got 2nd place. After this, we became much more motivated. We won some product vouchers and a 6-hour drums workshop.
Then, we were involved in the Teachers' Day Concert. We put up a suprise performance for the teachers. Even our two teachers-in-charge didn't get to see till the rehearsals.
We were invited to perform for Ar-Raudhah Kindergarten Graduation Day at Bukit Batok East CC and Sri Warisan's event, Tunas Berseni at Malay Heritage Centre. We will be performing at Zhenghua CC on the 6th Dec 2008 too.

Singapore says third Chinese product contaminated
SINGAPORE - Singapore has found traces of a toxic chemical in a third Chinese-made dairy product as a scandal over tainted milk spreads across Asia, authorities said Sunday.
Singapore's Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority, known as AVA, said samples of White Rabbit-brand Creamy Candy imported from China were contaminated with melamine, an industrial chemical that can cause kidney stones and lead to kidney failure.
Authorities on Friday suspended the sale and import of all Chinese milk and dairy products after finding melamine in samples of a Yili-brand yogurt bar and Dutch Lady-brand strawberry milk manufactured in China. The ban includes milk, ice cream, yogurt, chocolate, biscuits and candy, as well as any other products containing milk from China as an ingredient.
"Retailers and importers have been instructed to recall these products and withhold them from sale," the AVA said in a statement. "Consumers who have bought the affected products are advised not to consume them."
Melamine has been blamed in China for four infant deaths and illnesses in 6,200 who drank tainted milk powder. A 3-year-old girl in Hong Kong was also diagnosed with a kidney stone after drinking milk containing melamine.
Since the problem of tainted milk products became public knowledge less than two weeks ago, the crisis has spread to include almost all of China's biggest dairy companies. Their products have been pulled from stores around the country, and in other places such as the self-governing Chinese territories of Hong Kong and Macau. Starbucks stopped offering milk in its 300 outlets in China.
Hong Kong's two main supermarket chains said Sunday that they were recalling milk powder made by Swiss manufacturer Nestle after a newspaper reported it contains melamine.
Taiwanese company King Car Co. announced it has recalled packs of its Mr. Brown instant coffee and milk tea containing contaminated milk powder imported from China.
Japan recalled Chinese-made dairy products, and the governments of Malaysia and Brunei announced bans on milk products from China even though neither country currently imports Chinese dairy items.
Associated Press writer Scott McDonald contributed to this report.
